Following today’s announcement regarding plans for the replacement of the Penzance Heliport (please see note from Robert Dorrien-Smith), the Islands’ Partnership has issued the following statement on this:
The planned re-introduction of a helicopter service to Scilly will provide added resilience and increased choice in the marketplace.
Together with the recent announcement from the Steamship Company confirming the introduction of the new freight ship later this year, this latest news will provide a welcome boost in confidence for both business, the islands’ community and our visitors.
We look forward to working alongside the Steamship Company and the prospective new operator as part of a shared and continued commitment to supporting tourism and business growth on the islands.
The Isles of Scilly has once again been shortlisted for the Family Traveller Awards 2016, this year in the Best UK Region for Families. Last year, Scilly lifted the trophy as the Best UK destination for Families.
Who wins this year’s accolade is now down to a public vote. So if you believe that the Isles of Scilly, with its gorgeous white beaches, stunning islands to explore, incredible sealife and wildlife and quiet roads, tops your choice in the UK for the best place to bring parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren, then check this link to the Family Traveller Awards webpage and cast your vote! And of course ask your friends, families and guests to do the same. Help us do the double!
“It’s great to have been shortlisted once again for the Family Traveller magazine’s annual awards,” says David Jackson, Executive Director, Islands’ Partnership. “We truly believe that Scilly is perfect for families and of course having won Best UK Destination for Families last year, many others think so too. Winning for a second year, albeit in an enlarged category, would be an amazing achievement.”
