A new hospitality and catering trade exhibition has been launched specifically for the Isles of Scilly. Called Supply Scilly, the exhibition will be held at Tregarthen’s Hotel on St Mary’s on 18th – 19th February 2014.
Organised by Hotel Manager, Carina Luscombe, the exhibition will enable a wide range of suppliers to showcase their services and products to tourism businesses across Scilly. The two-day event will also feature events such as cookery demonstrations, wine pairing and seminars. Entry to the trade show will be free to Isles of Scilly businesses.
Exhibitors from the mainland are now being invited to take a stand at Supply Scilly and many have already signed up to take part including Wines in Cornwall, DS Hendy and West Country Fruit Sales.

Members of the Islands’ Partnership, the business and tourism body for the Isles of Scilly, have today voted for four new Directors to sit on the board. They are: Robert Francis, Owner Star Castle Hotel; Sarah Mason, Manager of the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust; Jon May, Owner and Manager of Sandpiper Apartments and Sandpiper Shop, and Manager of Peninnis Farm Luxury Camping; and Euan Rodger, Owner Tanglewood Kitchen Company.
The new directors replace four outgoing directors – Jeff Marston, Chief Executive Officer, Isles of Scilly Steamship Group; Richard Mills, Owner of Scilly Sailing Centre and Spero’s Restaurant; Julian Pearce, Economic Development Officer, Council of the Isles of Scilly; and Cllr Christine Savill, Council of the Isles of Scilly. Councillor Savill will remain on the Board of Directors as an observer.
The Islands’ Partnership, together with Cornwall Life, has launched a competition to find a columnist on Scilly to write regular features about the islands in the magazine.
Cornwall Life already has a special 12-page section planned for the February 2014 issue where three shortlisted columns will also be published. At the same time, the outright winner – chosen by editor Carol Burns together with Alasdair Moore, Islands’ Partnership Director – will be announced who will then go on to write regular columns about Scilly for the glossy publication.
The competition is open to all residents on Scilly and they need to be happy to write a regular feature in Cornwall Life, along with a “by-line” photograph of themselves. To enter, budding writers need to compose 400 words about what makes life on Scilly so special and submit their entry to email@example.com by 20th December 2013.
