This will be first AGM since the IP was formed last year.  Wolf Rock, the Islands’ marketing consultants will also make a presentation of their approach to marketing the islands. The board will report on activities for the past year including the usual matters of finance and governance.  It will also be the first opportunity for members to elect their own representatives to the Board of Directors, with four of the current Directors retiring from office.  

FREE and open to all: Claire Jarrett is well-known for her real-time, online seminars or "webinars". This one is designed to help small businesses learn how to set up a marketing campaign on Facebook, even if you are new to it, and how to how to build a fan base.  You'll need to register in advance on www.clairejarrett.com/facebookwebinar. There may be a bit of a hard sell for services at the end - because she offers the webinar for free - but you can just log out at that stage!  

The IP supported nine Scillonian businesses in their applications to the Cornwall Tourism Awards. Four made it to the finals - Hell Bay Hotel (Small Hotel of the Year), Juliet’s Garden Restaurant (Café and tearoom of the Year), The New Inn Tresco (Pub of the Year), and St Martin’s Dive School (Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year) - and we'll be wishing them lots of luck this evening when the overall winners are announced.

Directors are getting out to the off-islands to be accessible to as many members, and potential members, as possible. Following their meeting, there will be Q&A session, open to all.  

Following the Islands' Partnership Board Meeting on St Agnes this Thursday (13th), the IP directors are hosting a public session from 1pm until 2.15pm at the Coastguard's Cafe....coffee and sandwiches provided. It's an opportunity for everyone on St Agnes - members and non-members - to talk to IP directors (included our newest addition, Rob Goldsmith) about any concerns, issues, ideas, suggestions etc.

Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency is hosting a shared apprentice event, beneficial to Island businesses who might be interested in sharing an apprentice.

The Agency was set up to support small businesses and in particular seasonal businesses who were unable to meet the criteria of employing an Apprentice.  Some of the barriers include the situation where a single business does not have enough work for an apprentice full time or need support with employment.  But a couple of businesses in similar sectors may be able to share an Administration Apprentice.  The Agency would employ the apprentice on behalf of both employers.  We would work then work with training providers to deliver the training.

Please note, this is preliminary training for those attending the "Build a Website" training in January. If spaces are tight, then priority will be given to them.

The second Christmas fayre organised by the Islands' Partnership.  Carol Singing, live music, Christmas treats, quizzes and children's activities etc etc.

There will be no formal training for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter this year; instead if you want some top tips and ideas on how to get started or progress with social media, come and see Amy, Sam or Carolyn at the Islands' Partnership office. We don't know everything, but we'll do our best to answer your questions (and if we can't we'll endeavour to find out the answers for you!)

Design and build your own Wordpress website, with maximised SEO capability and essential plug ins. This training is being delivered by an external supplier and, depending on numbers, will cost in the region of £120 and £150 per person. A non-refundable £30 deposit will be required at the time of booking. We also recommend those attending to also turn up to the "writing for websites" training session on Thursday 3rd December. This is complimentary for IP members and complementary to J January's course (!).

A pre-season clean and tidy up and beach cleans across the islands

The date has been been changed this year to coincide with "Clean for the Queen" campaign, being coordinated by Keep Britain Tidy in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday. (It was originally arranged for the weekend before Easter)
